DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Fort Valley's Police Chief will hold a news conference on Monday afternoon to talk about a part-time officer who's the suspect in a murder-suicide.
Dekalb County Police say 38-year-old Michael Durieux and 37-year-old Christian Chestnut got into an argument on Friday night.
Police say Durieux shot Chestnut several times.
They say Durieux drove off, crashed his car and apparently shot himself.
Records from the Georgia Post Council say Durieux had worked for Fort Valley as a reserve sergeant since last October.
Previously, he's worked a dozen years in law enforcement at Georgia State University, Georgia Perimeter College and Talbotton Police in Talbot County.
Those records say he was in "good standing" with no record of complaints or discipline.
Fort Valley Chief DJ Flores will hold a news conference at 3 p.m. on Monday.
He says he'll talk about Durieux but not about the Dekalb case.
