New details released after man found dead in alleyway in downtown Macon

59-year-old Albert Kenneth Knight passed away from a severe head wound.

MACON, Ga. — A man was found dead in an alleyway in downtown Macon on Sunday, and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says they're now investigating his death as a homicide.

According to a press release, they say the call came into the 911 center around 11:47 a.m. on Sunday.

The sheriff's office identified the man as 59-year-old Albert Kenneth Knight. He was found dead in an alleyway of First Street Lane.

Investigators said Knight passed away from a severe head wound. 

The release says Knight was struck in the head several times until he died. 

"Investigators continue to work this incident and are committed to utilizing the full resources that law enforcement can provide to resolve this case," the release says.

Knight's next of kin have been notified about his death. His body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
