59-year-old man found dead in alleyway in downtown Macon identified

The call came in to 911 around 11:47 a.m. on Sunday.

MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was found dead in an alleyway in downtown Macon, according to a press release. 

They say a 59-year-old man was found in an alleyway. 

Originally, the sheriff's office said it happened near the intersection of Poplar and Second Street. But in a later release, they said it happened on First Street Lane, an alleyway near Poplar Street. 

The call came in to 911 around 11:47 a.m. on Sunday. 

The release says the man died from a severe head wound.

This investigation is in its preliminary stages. The Sheriff's Office says they will release more information as it becomes available.

Coroner Leon Jones identified the man as Albert Kenneth Knight Jr.

 His body will be taken to the GBI Crime lab for an autopsy.
