Man dead after being shot in the head in west Macon, Bibb County Sheriff's Office says

According to the Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday

MACON, Ga. — A man is dead after a shooting at a gas station in west Macon late Saturday night, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office press release.

The release said 23-year-old RaQuavian Smith exited a Marathon Gas Station on Napier Avenue around 11:30 p.m. after gun shots were heard.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said Smith, after exiting the gas station, was shot in the head.

The release said he was then driven to the Atrium Health Navicent and brought to the hospital's emergency room. 

He was pronounced dead by hospital staff. Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley, according to the release, said next of kin has been notified.
