MACON, Ga. — It has been 158 days since Gabriella Dixon went missing — almost 6 months.
The 18-year-old was last seen on Oct. 30, 2023, dropping off her kids at their grandmother's place. Since then, her family has organized search parties and peaceful protests, but they still haven't seen or heard from her.
Now, the community is rallying together to honor Dixon and other unsolved cases.
Mark Wingfield is one of the organizers of Saturday's rally.
"Tomorrow's peace rally for Gabby Dixon is really just an initiative to show them that there is a community that is concerned about the case and all the other missing person cases," Wingfield said.
Wingfield said he has a daughter named Gabriella, and they nickname her Gabby too. Hearing and seeing the name, Wingfield said it felt like it could be his daughter too.
"For a young girl to be missing and for it to have taken place so close to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, I personally feel like not having any type of answer is just — it's strange to me," Wingfield said.
Wingfield got connected with the other organizers. He thought having this rally was necessary.
"As a community in Macon, Georgia we are so happy and thankful for all of the growth we're seeing as far as our tourism and stuff," Wingfield said. "However, we have to be able to pair that with the crime rates and what's going on so it makes sense and that we don't have a demographic of people who are feeling like they aren't heard."
The rally hopes to show Dixon's family and others that there is a community supporting them.
"Gabby Dixon is just the most recent," Wingfield said. "We are trying to use that as a push to give her mother some comfort but also try to give these other families who still have cases open and give them some comfort too and get their voices heard."
The rally is set to take place Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. outside the Bibb County Sheriff's Office on Oglethorpe Street.
