'I have a lot of hate in my heart right now': Gabby Dixon's family continues searching 3 months after her disappearance
It's been three months since Gabby Dixon was first reported missing. Her family is still holding on to hope that the missing mother will be found.
Gabriella Dixon was last seen dropping off her kids at their grandmother's place on Oct. 30. After that day, the family hasn't seen her.
Dixon is a mother of two who was often compared to her mother, Gabrella Searcy. She describes her daughter as her twin.
"I'm still heartbroken," Searcy said. "I'm upset, I've developed hate."
Searcy is frustrated with how her daughter's investigation is playing out.
"Start to lose hope in people, start to lose hope in your city, your county, everybody," Searcy said.
Searcy says Bibb County investigators have not reached out to her family or given her any updates since November.
She wants Bibb County investigators and the DA's office to take more action against Reginald Harris.
He's the father of Gabby's children and one of two people facing charges in connection to Dixon's case.
"I asked for an update maybe about a month ago, they said they're in the process of getting search warrants. You're getting search warrants three months after the fact," Searcy said.
'It feels different' Where the case stands
The only warrants 13WMAZ found in court records are arrest warrants for Harris and Jatarvious Price.
Both Price and Harris are charged with tampering with evidence related to Dixon's disappearance, and Harris was also arrested on previous family violence charges against Dixon.
Right now, Harris is in jail on a $82,500 bond and has a no-contact order in place.
Gabrella Searcy said she has reached out to Macon District's Attorney Anita Howard's office and hasn't received anything.
Searcy was told by the DA's office she has a victim's advocate, and her name is Stephanie Whitehead but she wasn't aware of that. Whitehead was supposed to tell her there was a no-contact order, but the DA's office failed to tell her.
Harris is not to have contact with Gabby Dixon's family, including Gabrella and Darryl Searcy.
"It still seems unbelievable. It seems like this is a bad dream that we're going to wake up from one day and everything is going to be alright," said Darryl Searcy, Dixon's stepfather.
Darryl told 13WMAZ Gabby's two daughters miss their mother.
"We had two birthdays, the granddaughter's birthdays. One turned one and she didn't get a chance to see her mother or didn't get a chance to spend time with her mother. The other one turned three, and they're constantly asking every day where their mother is. And we don't have any answers for them," Darryl Searcy said.
With no new updates Gabby's brother RJ, doesn't know how this could've happened to his sister.
"It feels different. I don't know how to feel because it never happened to me before. So, I'm confused because I don't know what exactly happened," R.J. Dixon said.
In the time being, they've done what they can to keep the public looking for Gabby. They've held searches and protests in hopes of keeping the case from becoming a cold case.
'Working closely' Sheriff's Office Reponse
13WMAZ reached out to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office for comment. They sent us a statement saying:
"Investigators are currently working closely with the District Attorney’s Office in Ms. Dixon’s open case. I understand you have a story coming up, but Investigators will not be available to discuss details to this case with you. Although this may be frustrating, I assure you we will release updates to you when they become available and try to honor your request regarding this at a later time."
The Searcys feel their daughter's case has been neglected.
"I'm not the mayor's wife, I'm not the mayor's daughter but I guarantee you if it was our mayor, if it was our senator, our governor, anyone else besides little old Gabriella, little old Gabrielle Dixon, their child would've been found, results would've been ASAP," Searcy said. "They would've been moved up to first priority."
The family continues to do their own search for Gabby Dixon but are not giving up.
