Inmate dead at Washington State Prison, department of corrections says

The cause of death is still unknown.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — An inmate's body is being taken to the GBI Crime Lab after dying in Washington State Prison, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

They say 42-year-old Torrey Forrester died on Monday.

The cause of death is still unknown.

His body was turned over to the coroner and will be given to the GBI Crime Lab to determine the official cause of death.

Forrester's death is being investigated by the GDC’s Office of Professional Standards and there are no further details about his death available at this time.

Forrester was serving three years for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in Catoosa County with a maximum release date of March 2025. 

His sentence began in April.
