Fight between inmates at Telfair State Prison leads to inmate's death

The inmate, a Tift County native, was serving a 20-year sentence for Armed Robbery.

TELFAIR COUNTY, Ga. — An inmate died at Telfair State Prison on Saturday, according to the Georgia Public Affairs Office for the Department of Corrections.

In an email, they said Lamar Wilson, a Tift County native, died of injuries suffered during a fight with another inmate. He was serving a 20-year sentence for Armed Robbery.

According to the release, Wilson is believed to have started the fight with the unnamed inmate.

Wilson was turned over to the county coroner and will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office to determine his official cause of death.
