It happened Tuesday night around 10:30 p.m. at the Vistas Apartments on Arkwright Road, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
The victim told deputies he was sitting on the passenger side of a car when someone started shooting, the release says.
Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from a separate shooting that happened on Jan. 29.
No one was hurt, but the driver did get away, the sheriff's office says.
