FORT VALLEY, Ga. — A Fort Valley man was arrested and charged with home invasion, kidnapping and aggravated assault, according to a press release from the Fort Valley Police Department.
Fort Valley Police Chief DJ Flores says Ryan McGhee, 36, forced his way into his former girlfriend’s apartment with a gun, and held her neighbors hostage in the process.
Per the release, officers arrived at Fort Valley’s Lakeview Apartment Complex around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday in reference to a domestic complaint, where they found McGhee loading bullets into a gun. He was then arrested.
Flores says that further investigation of the situation revealed that McGhee forced his way into one of the homes using the gun, and threatened the people inside the apartment. He ordered them to knock on his estranged girlfriend’s door, threatening violence if they refused.
McGhee’s former girlfriend opened the door, though officers arrived to arrest McGhee shortly after, according to the release.
The release says McGhee was taken to the Peach County Detention Center without incident.
