Macon Mayhem to start season at home, as they announce schedule for the 2024-2025 season

With less than 100 days until the start of the season, Macon's home and away opponents for its 10th season in the SPHL have been announced

MACON, Ga. — With less than 100 days until the puck hits the ice, the Macon Mayhem's opponents for its 10th season in the SPHL have been revealed

Macon's 2024-2025 season was officially announced on Wednesday.

The Mayhem will start the season at home for the third straight year.

They'll will face the Birmingham Bulls on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Macon Coliseum. The Bull's finished the 2023-2024 regular season as the leader in points and wins.

The Mayhem will play the Fayetteville Marksmen the weekend after, as the two will face off on Oct. 25 and 26.

Macon will then stay on the road for nearly a month.

From Nov. 1 to Nov. 22, the Mayhem will play road games until returning home on Nov. 23 to play the Marksmen again.

They'll take on the reigning SPHL league champions, the Peoria Rivermen, at home on Dec. 13 to Dec. 15.

While most of the Mayhem's games are on the road to start the season — they only 13 of its first 32 games at home — they'll finish the season with an equal amount of home and away games.

Macon's schedule concludes with two different home game stretches.

The team will play the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs on Feb. 21 and 22 before playing Fayetteville for the second time at home on Feb. 28 and March 1.

After a short road trip, the Mayhem will return home for five straight home games.

They'll play back-to-back games against Roanoke on March 14 and 15 before playing Birmingham, Fayetteville and Knoxville on March 20, 21 and 22, respectively.

The Mayhem are likely looking for a chance to bounce back after a disappointing season last year. They were one of two teams — joining the Knoxville Ice Bears — to miss the playoffs.

The team, ahead of the season, also  released the protected players that will return for the 2024-2025 season.

This group will play for Macon unless they're cut down the line. The full list is below:
