ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia football’s 2025 and 2026 schedules are set to look a bit different.
The Bulldogs had planned to play UCLA in Pasadena, California in 2025, before facing the Bruins in Athens in 2026.
However, the home-and-home was canceled, and in its place a new opponent has arisen.
Georgia will instead face off against Marshall on Aug. 30, 2025. The game will serve as both teams' season opener.
A replacement game has not been scheduled in 2026.
Georgia football last played the Thundering Herd in 2004, where the team won 13-3.
This isn’t the first time a Power 4 team was forced to cancel its game with the Bulldogs.
Georgia was set to play Oklahoma in 2023, but the game was canceled due to the Sooners upcoming move to the SEC. Instead, Georgia played Ball State at home.
This is the fifth game that’s been tentatively scheduled in 2025. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face off against non-conference opponents Austin Peay and Charlotte on Sept. 6 and No. 22 respectively.
They’ll play rivals Florida in Jacksonville on Nov. 1, and will travel to Bobby Dodd Stadium on Nov. 29 to play Georgia Tech.
Georgia will also face off against the same SEC opponents that its facing in the 2024 season.
The Bulldogs will play Auburn and Kentucky — like they will every year going forward — alongside Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
They’ll play Kentucky, Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas at home, while they’ll face Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee on the road. This is flipped from 2024.
The only games tentatively set in 2026 are games against Western Kentucky and Louisville on Sept. 12 and 19, respectively. Georgia will play Florida and Georgia Tech on Oct. 31 and Nov. 28, respectively.
