Pedestrian hit by car in Bloomfield, later pronounced dead, sheriff's office says

Carmen Rodriguez, 44, was hit near the intersection of Rocky Creek Road and Thrasher Circle around 11 p.m. on Friday

MACON, Ga. — A woman is dead after being hit by a car in Bloomfield, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The release said the driver, who was driving a Honda Accord, hit Carmen Rodriguez, 44, near the intersection of Bloomfield Road and Thrasher Circle. It happened around 11 p.m. on Friday.

The release added that the driver saw Rodriguez and tried to avoid hitting her, but wasn’t able to do so. The driver was not hurt in the accident.

Rodriguez was transported to Atrium Navicent and was later pronounced dead. According to the release, Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley notified the next of kin.
