BONAIRE, Ga. — A taste of Wisconsin is on its way to Houston County.
Culvers, a fast food chain from The Badger State, announced they will be opening up a store location in Bonaire.
According to a page on their website, the store will be opening up shop on 780 Highway 96. It'll be located near Kroger, Chick-fil-A and Moe's Southwest Grill. Fans of the restaurant will have to wait until a tentative opening date of Feb. 24, 2025.
This is the second Culver's to open up in Central Georgia, as it joins the Macon location on Northside Drive, which opened in 2021. It's also the 24th overall location in the state of Georgia.
The chain, which originated in Sauk City, Wisconsin, is well known for bringing its Wisconsin staples to multiple parts of the country. Owner and founder Craig Culver, according to Culver's website, prides himself on "fresh, never frozen beef" and acquiring the dairy for their frozen custard and cheese curds from Wisconsin dairy farms.
One of the restaurant's most popular offerings are their "ButterBurger," which is a basic hamburger sometimes caramelized with a bit of butter and topped with a buttered and toasted bun. Customers can order one, two or three patties and can customize the burger to their choosing, or choose from the restaurant's multiple selections, including their sourdough melts.
Another staple is their freshly made frozen custard, which is similar to soft serve ice cream, but contains egg yolks and is creamier as a result. Customers can order sundaes, milkshakes and concrete mixers, which is when the frozen custard is mixed with various toppings like hot fudge, M&M's, raspberries and more. Customers can also root beer or orange Fanta floats.
The restaurant also sells Wisconsin cheese curds, which are similar to mozzarella sticks, but in smaller bite-sized form. They also sell other sides like crinkle cut fries, pretzel bis and their "George's Chili."
For those not feeling beef, Culvers has a variety of chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders and even a veggie burger. They also offer cod sandwiches and butterfly jumbo shrimp.
