Pizza place in Gray set to close its doors later this month

The restaurant, which had been open for a decade, announced that their last day will be on Sept. 15.

GRAY, Ga. — A beloved pizza place in Jones County is closing its doors.

Chevy's Pizza in Gray will be closing up shop after a decade of being in business.

The restaurant, which has been in its newer, larger location since 2017, confirmed on Facebook that they are closing and that their final day being open will be on Sept. 15.

"I think this is going to be the hardest post we have had to make," store owner Chevy Turner said in the Facebook post. "These last 10 years have been a heck of a ride for us, with ups, downs, laughs, tears, memories, and ALL the WONDERFUL people we have met along the way."

Owner Chevy Turner is a Gray native herself and had been around the food industry her whole life. Her parents once ran a Chevy's Cafe in Gray, which was a small country cooking restaurant.

Eventually Turner opened up her own place in Gray and the clientele only grew from there.

"To our customers, we love and appreciate every single one of you, whether you come in everyday, twice a week, once a month, or you’ve only ate with us one or two times during the past 10 years," the post said. "We would not be where we are without YOU! We will sincerely miss every single one of you. "

Several people in the comments of the post commented about how much they loved Chevy's Pizza and their food. One user said it was their favorite pizza place since they moved to Gray from Indiana.

Many shared memories of eating there after softball games or stopping by when travelling through the town.

"Gray will not be the same," one person commented.

Many people called the restaurant the best pizza and wings, not just in Gray, but anywhere. Others praised how good the alfredo sauce is, how much they loved their calzones or how good Chevy's Italian subs are.

Their restaurant has various pizza options, including a "Mighty Meat" option, which has pepperoni, sausage, beef, bacon and ham, or their "Fully Loaded" option, which has pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, olives and bell peppers.

They also served multiple alfredo based dishes, which you could order with proteins like chicken or shrimp. There were also spaghetti with marinara and meatballs and their signature "Mama's Pasta," which was penne pasta with beef, pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and marinara sauce, and then was covered with cheese.

Their sub options included their Italian sub, alongside others like an ultimate club, a roast beef sub, and a Philly Cheesesteak.

For dessert, customers can enjoy a brownie or cinnamon "stix."

While many people spoke on the food, many others talked about how much they loved the people that worked there and ran the restaurant. Employees also commented how much they enjoyed working there, a sentiment Turner echoed in the post.

People were devastated that they weren't just losing one of their favorite restaurants, but a place to see some of their favorite people.

"We have loved this business, our customers, and each of our employees with the deepest depths of our hearts, but unfortunately after 10 years, our journey must come to an end," the post said. "It has been a fun ride Gray, Georgia! And with tears in our eyes, and our hearts full of hurt, it is time for us to say goodbye to Chevy’s Pizza."
