MACON, Ga. — Two men were arrested for attempting to steal from a Macon grocery store on Thursday afternoon, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
The release says deputies from the sheriff's office found two suspects loading items from Houston Grocery into the back of a white car. The Houston Avenue store was closed when the burglary occurred, which the sheriff's office says was around 2:30 p.m.
The suspects were identified as Eddie Eugene Slatton and Joe Wesley Shipman, 62 and 67.
According to the release, the deputies arrested both of the men, and then spoke with the owner. They say the owner of the business didn't give the men permission to enter the closed store or remove any items from it.
The sheriff's office says all items removed from the store were recovered, and both suspects were taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. According to the release, both were charged with felony second-degree burglary, and they don't have bond.
Anyone with information regarding the burglary is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
