MACON, Ga. — UPDATE: First Presbyterian Day School has also announced that it will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 3, due to the boil water advisory. All scheduled home sports games have also been cancelled on Tuesday.
Stratford Academy has announced it will be closed on Tuesday due to the boil water advisory, according to a message sent out to parents.
All after-school activities, including home games and practices, are also canceled. The decision to close was made to remain in compliance with requirements from the Department of Public Health, which means the school must remain closed during a boil water advisory.
The Macon Water Authority has collected a sample within the last two hours, and the results for a possible all-clear will not be available for 18-24 hours, according to the letter from Stratford.
Once the advisory is lifted, Stratford says it will take the following precautions before students return to campus.
- A third-party vendor will clean and sanitize all ice machines.
- Our buildings and grounds staff will flush all pipes.
- Custodial staff will clean and disinfect all water-contact surfaces, including sinks, faucets, and drinking fountains.
- The FLIK staff will clean and sanitize all kitchen and food preparation areas, as well as any food service supplies that may have come into contact with water during the advisory.
Bibb County Schools already had a pre-planned asynchronous learning day on its calendar.
13WMAZ will provide additional updates when they are made available and will track any additional school closures.
