What to do while under a boil water advisory
When under a boil water advisory, you should only use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and brushing your teeth, according to the CDC.
When boiling the water, allow it to come to a full rolling boil for 1 minute, allow the water to cool and then use as needed. The CDC says you still need to do this even if your tap water is filtered.
The water authority suggests those who cannot boil water should use bottled water for drinking and cooking until they lift the advisory. They also say you should throw away ice made with tap water since Sept. 1.
Additionally, you shouldn't use water from any appliances that are connected to a water line. For instance, using your ice and water machines connected to your refrigerator.
