HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — One person is dead after a motor home overturned on I-75 South near the Houston and Dooly County line, according to Houston County Coroner James Williams.
The crash happened at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday just past exit 127.
The motorhome overturning left all of I-75 South closed, and they didn't expect traffic to resume for hours, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation's 511 site.
It also closed one lane of I-75 Northbound, causing traffic to be backed up both directions, Williams said.
As of 9:20 p.m., all but one lane on I-75 South were reopened, easing congestion from earlier that night.
Georgia State Patrol is now investigating the crash, Williams said.
A Houston County Fire engine overturned in Perry on the way to the overturned motor home according to Perry Fire Department Capt. Jesse Riner. No one was injured in that crash, but it did close Main Street and Carrol in Perry.
Williams is not identifying the victim in the motorhome crash, and he couldn't offer any more information.
This is a developing story. We will provide updates when they become available.
