MACON, Ga. — A Macon mom is questioning school security after she says her daughter was beaten up by a group of students at Northeast High School.

Tasha Williams says her daughter was attacked between classes by somewhere between five to nine girls.

Other students posted a graphic video of the brawl on Facebook.

Williams said her daughter has a concussion and injuries to her face and lip.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says the Bibb County School District's campus police are investigating the case.

Campus police referred questions to school spokeswoman Stephanie Hartley, who issued this statement to 13WMAZ:

Yesterday at Northeast, a male student and his female companion were the target of a fight by several other students during the transition from third lunch back to class. The fight stemmed from an event the day before (Tuesday) when the male allegedly threatened a different female student with slapping her. Administration was made aware of the threat and sat the two students down as part of the school’s use of reformative justice practices for an intervention circle. The two students worked out their issues, but others were not aware they had resolved those issues. Those other students then started the fight with the male and his female companion yesterday following lunch. Seven students were charged with aggravated battery and are also facing disciplinary actions as a result. I cannot discuss discipline because of FERPA. Principal Steven Jones says school is back to normal operations today and everything is running smoothly.

School safety director David Gowan said he was unaware of the case.
