MCRAE-HELENA, Ga. — Authorities believe a man was killed in his cell at Telfair State Prison on Monday after an apparent struggle with his cellmate, according to Telfair County Deputy Coroner Mike Morris.
The Georgia Department of Corrections confirms Henry Crump died on Monday.
When officials found the inmate dead, Morris says it appeared there was a struggle, and they suspect foul was play involved.
Crump was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole for murder in Paulding County, the Georgia Department of Corrections says.
Crump's body was handed over to the Telfair County Coroner's Office, and Morris says they are trying to get him into the GBI Crime Lab for an official autopsy.
Crump's death comes on the heels of another inmate's death at Telfair State Prison earlier that week.
On Thursday, Marc Lefevre died at a hospital in Dodge County, Morris said. At this time, the GDC says there does not appear to be any sign of a fight or foul play.
Morris said his death appeared to be related to a medical issue.
Another inmate died at a Central Georgia prison on Friday
Macon State Prison inmate Keith Green died after a fight with another inmate, the department confirmed.
