Trucks and Treats event invites families to enjoy one-of-a-kind experience

Families and their kids were encouraged to dress up to enjoy not only candy and treats, but the opportunity to see first responder vehicles up close.

MACON, Ga. — Halloween is drawing closer and closer.

As the spooky holiday nears, Atrium Health, Peach State Health Plan and Sanford Insurance welcomed families to the Atrium Health Amphitheater on Saturday for Halloween fun a few days early.

The group of health workers and providers hosted Trucks and Treats, a free event that invited families to enjoy the uniquely decorated vehicles handing out candy and treats.

Thousands of people came out to the event, as they enjoyed music from DJ Smooth.

Unlike some other Trucks and Treats events, kids were welcomed to experience a large number of different types of trucks and various emergency vehicles up close. The groups hosting the event hope that the hands-on experience will leave lasting memories for the kids who attended.

Ambulances, fire trucks, sheriff department cars and other vehicles, EMA vehicles, visit Macon cars and trucks and tow trucks from Mike's Tow Trucks.

In addition to the decorated trucks, attendees could also enjoy interactive games, live entertainment, arts and craft vendors and local food trucks.

While nothing was required, Halloween costumes were encouraged by those who attended.

The event ran from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
