Struggle between Bibb Sheriff deputy, armed man sends both to hospital, sheriff's office says

They say it happened at the Murphy's Express Thursday morning.

MACON, Ga. — A deputy and armed suspect were both injured on Thursday after a struggle, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says.

They say it happened at the Murphy's Express at 1402 Gray Highway. That's right across the road from the Gray Highway Walmart.

Deputies were dispatched after an armed man - Tiynaan Hillard, 30, from Macon - was reportedly threatening employees inside the store with a gun.

When deputies arrived, Hillard shoved one of the deputies and a "physical altercation" occurred. They say Hillard was arrested by additional deputies.

The report says Hillard and the deputy were both taken to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries, and the suspect is in custody.
