Houston County gas station shooting leaves 1 dead, coroner says

Coroner James Williams says the shooting happened at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

CENTERVILLE, Ga. — A person is dead after a shooting in Centerville Wednesday morning, Houston County Coroner James Williams says.

He says the shooting happened at around 7 a.m. at the Marathon Gas Station Parking lot at 500 Wilson Drive in Centerville.

Williams says the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say the victim's identity is not being released at this time, but an autopsy is scheduled for Friday at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon.

Williams says the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation and, because of that, no additional information is being released right now.
