MACON, Ga. — An inmate at the Bibb County Jail died Monday morning, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says.
They say infirmary staff was checking on inmate Robert Beck at 7 a.m. Monday morning.
There, they discovered Beck breathing but he did not respond to medical staff, the sheriff's office says.
That's when Beck was taken by ambulance to a medical facility but he was pronounced dead by at 8 a.m., only an hour after being found unresponsive.
The sheriff's office says they are currently investigating, and Beck's body will be sent to the GBI for an autopsy.
The sheriff's office says Beck was in jail on aggravated child molestation charges.
This brings the number of deaths in the Bibb County jail to at least two this year, based on a public records request filed by 13WMAZ.
The other death this year was Stephen Fossett, whose family recently held a press conference calling for answers in their loved one's death.
