'Everybody loved my son' | Macon family mourns after apartment complex shooting

The shooting happened around 10:00 a.m. and Brown was pronounced dead at the scene

MACON, Ga. — It was a deadly weekend in Macon, with two separate shootings taking the lives of two men on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's shooting victim was 31-year-old Demarious Brown.

He was shot at the Gray Parc apartments on Gray Highway around 10:00 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His dad, Eric Brown, said their family is currently busy cleaning out his apartment and organizing a funeral.

"No one wants to funeralize their child. This is my first born, and I only have two kids," Brown said.

He said he thinks his son knew his killer.

"He don't open the door for anybody. So whoever it was, he had to have known him," Brown said.

He said Demarious Brown's girlfriend was home with him on Saturday. She heard an argument between him and another person, and then heard one shot that rang out. Since Saturday, he said their whole family's been living in pain.

"He didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve this. I am so hurt with pain that it's just hard to describe," Brown said.

While he said it's hard to put words to the grief, it's easy for him to talk about the life his son lived as a good friend and loving family man.

"He was a nice, kind person who helped anybody, it didn't matter. He smiled all the time. Everybody loved my son," Eric Brown said.

His son was a proud dad to his own 11-year-old son, M.J. Brown. He still can't understand who would want to kill his dad.

"He don't be mean to people or nothing like that. He's just a kind person," M.J. Brown said.

Now, he's going to have to bury his father before he starts seventh grade.

"The only thing I can tell the person - come forward. Because we're gonna find out who you are. That's all I want, you just come forward," Eric Brown said.

The Brown family is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone that has information that leads to a conviction.
