Vice President Harris opens campaign office in Macon, local democrats and government officials attend

Georgia Rep. Miriam Paris, Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee Chair Jaylan Scott and Democratic Party Chair Will Davis came out to the event

MACON, Ga. — The 2024 presidential race is starting to re-heat up

The democratic party announced on Friday that vice president Kamala Harris received enough votes to become the democratic nominee for the upcoming presidential election.

A day later, local democratic leaders and community members came together with the Team Harris and Georgia Democrats for her new Bibb County Office opening ceremony.

The office is located at the Triangle Business Center in Macon and is set up for vice president Harris, who recently spoke at a rally in Atlanta..

Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee Chair Jaylan Scott said the site itself is set up to energize young voters to vote for Harris and other democrats on the ballot. He added that it's also to rally other democrats to vote.

Scott, Georgia Rep. Miriam Paris and Second Congressional District Democratic Party Chair Will Davis came out to the event and spoke on their support for Harris and what she's done during her tenure as vice president and as a government official.

Other local government officials like Anita Howard, Elaine Lucas and David Lucas also spoke at the event.

The group spoke on the differences between the Democrats and Republicans efforts to campaign in the state of Georgia and former president Donald Trump's 2025 agenda.

They also said, in a press release sent out before the event, that they planned to speak on the “risks” former president Donald Trump brings to “Georgians’ freedoms, economic future and our democracy."

Additionally, they spoke and gave their opinions on women's rights, border security and wanting to make America a safe haven for families seeking refuge.

Over 75 people attended the event.

The event began at 12 p.m.
