MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A man is dead in Monroe County after a late-night car crash Monday, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.
They say that Gregory Smith was driving his Chevrolet Silverado near Rumble Road when he crossed the center line.
At that very moment, a tractor-trailer was driving in the opposite lane of traffic, and the truck slammed into Smith's Silverado head-on, the sheriff's office said.
They say Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the crash is still under investigation.
The press release from the sheriff's office notes that Smith's next of kin has been notified.
