MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A car flipped in Monroe County after the sheriff's office believes the driver lost control around a curve and hit a school bus, according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
They say it happened near Highway 83 and Old Cabiness Road at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday. That's outside of the town of Berner and heads towards Forsyth.
When the car lost control, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the bus attempted to swerved out of the way, but the car still crashed into a the bus owned by Monroe County Schools.
According to the press release, they say there were no students onboard the bus at the time of the crash, but the driver of both the school bus and the car were taken to a Macon hospital, the press release said.
Photos provided by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office show the bus appeared to suffer minor damage, primarily some dents on the side of the bus.
The car, on the other hand, appeared to have suffered major damage.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the crash is still under investigation.
