CRISP COUNTY, Ga. — Two dozen people in Crisp County face drug and gang charges, and one of them is a Cordele City Commissioner.
Royce Reeves Sr., 52, was arrested for marijuana distribution, gang activities, RICO violations and more, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation press release.
The Crisp County Sheriff's Office said and confirmed that Reeves is currently a city commissioner. According to the city website, he's listed as the Commission Vice Chairman and represents the city's Ward two.
GBI's release noted that 24 people were arrested, with most from Cordele.
The release said the GBI, the Sheriff's Office and several other agencies conducted an investigation, known as Operation Shyne Down, which targeted the G-Shyne Blood Gang located in Cordele. They said the goal is to crack down on a gangs causing violent crime in the city.
The release added that they issued 120 warrants on 24 people and are looking for five others on similar charges.
However, this isn't Reeves' first brush with the law.
Two years ago, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp suspended him after he was charged with obstructing a police officer, disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing and more.
13WMAZ reached out to Reeves this morning. He's yet to respond.
