EASTMAN, Ga. — The chair of the Dodge County Board of Education was arrested on child molestation charges Friday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Elvis Davis, 57, was arrested and booked into the Dodge County Jail on one count of sexual exploitation of a child, two counts of child molestation and two counts of improper sexual contact by a foster parent, the GBI says.
According to jail records, Davis was arrested on Friday.
Nelly Miles with the GBI confirmed to 13WMAZ that Davis also serves as Chair of the Dodge County Board of Education. According to Georgia's Secretary of State website, Davis was on the ballot in May and was running unopposed.
Davis represents the Board of Education's 6th district.
We reached out to the Board of Education for comment and left a message. But we have not heard back.
Back on May 16, the Eastman Police Department asked the GBI to help assist in the investigation.
But they say the investigation into Davis is still ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the Dodge County DA's Office in the Oconee Judicial Circuit will handle the prosecution.
