Clerk shot during Macon armed robbery, sheriff's office looking for suspect

They say it happened at around 4:15 a.m. at the Citgo on Houston Road. Now, they're asking for your help finding the suspect.

MACON, Ga. — A gas station clerk was shot in Macon early Monday morning during an armed robbery, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. 

They say it happened at the Citgo at 5642 Houston Road. 

A masked man entered the store at around 4:15 a.m. wearing all dark clothes and a face mask, the press release said.

They say the man entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. That's when the suspect attempted to climb over the store's counter, but then the clerk pushed the man back, the press release said.

They say the suspect then shot the clerk once and then fled the scene.

The store's clerk was taken to the hospital where he is being treated with "non-life-threatening" injuries. Medical staff say he is currently in stable condition.
