FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Fort Valley held its third annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday.
Over 200 people made it out to celebrate. The event ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The main event was a Gospelfest concert at 2 p.m., however other performances were also planned like a step show and African dancing. There was also a dj.
A mini health department was on site for medical screenings, voting registration information was offered and a wide variety of vendors were in attendance.
There were also two different tournaments planned. One was a basketball tournament, while the other was a spades tournament.
Kids enjoyed pony rides and played several games.
While this was the third iteration of the celebration, Fort Valley local Angela Williams wants the event to continue.
“It’s kind of like a family reunion,” Williams said. “We want it to get to that point. This is a big event for the city of Fort Valley. It’s an annual event and we want it to grow and grow and (for) many to have a great time.”
