MACON, Ga. — Juneteenth is coming up and Central Georgia has several events to attend.
The holiday is celebrated across the country on June 19. The day honors and celebrates the ending of slavery in the US when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas.
Now, across the US people celebrate the day of Freedom. There are many events across Central Georgia where you can understand the day's history and come together with members of your community.

Pleasant Hill Neighborhood Reunion Banquet
When: June 7 at 6 p.m.
Where: L.H Williams Elementary School Cafetorium

Marshallville Juneteenth Celebration
When: June 8
Where: Julius Rice Park
A day filled with BBQ, culture, music, food and fun.
The parade will line up at 9:30 a.m. at Lamson Richardson Complex. The parade is from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and then festivities will move to Julius Rice Park on Sleepy Hollow Road. The festival in the park will last until 3 p.m.
Juneteenth Junior Debutant Ball and Black Girl Magic Awards Ceremony
When: June 8 at 5 p.m.
Where: Tubman Museum
Hosted by Macon Black Culture, the inaugural Juneteenth Junior Debutant Presentation. The event will honor iconic Black Women in Macon.

Warner Robins Juneteenth Festival 2024

Where: 105 Mulberry Street (Perkins Field, Wellston Center and the Old Rec Center)
The Warner Robins Juneteenth parade begins at 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. The festival is from noon until 4:30 p.m.

Juneteenth Freedom Day
When: June 15 at 10 a.m.
Where: Downtown Rochelle
There will be free clothes, games, bingo, food and fun. The parade is at 10 a.m. in downtown Rochelle and the festival will be at 327 Ginhouse Street in Wilcox County.
Fort Valley Juneteenth Festival
When: June 15 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Where: Hunt Education and Cultural Center Park
There will be a DJ, Mini Health Department, voting registration information, vendors, games, food and more. A Gospelfest concert is planned for 2 p.m.
Hawkinsville Juneteenth Celebration
When: June 15 from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Where: James A. Colson Park
"Hawkinsville Unity’s Juneteenth Celebration promises an unforgettable experience filled with a range of captivating activities and enriching cultural experiences for individuals of all ages. The group encourages everyone, regardless of background or ethnicity, to join in the celebration of freedom, unity, and empowerment. There will be a petting zoo, face painting, and health/wellness vendors at the event.
Perry Juneteenth Freedom Festival

During Perry's Juneteenth Festival, you can see a variety of entertainment, kid's activities, food trucks and more.
32nd Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival
When: June 15-16 1-9 p.m. on Saturday and 3-9 p.m. on Sunday
Where: Tattnall Square Park
The festival will showcase "historical exhibits, excellent live and cultural arts, community information presenters, health and wellness activities, and food/art/accessories vendors." Admission is free. The headliner is David Sanchez Latin Jazz with Little John Roberts

Macon-Bibb 2nd Annual Juneteenth Parade
When: June 16 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Where: Downtown Macon
The Macon Black Culture organization hosts the second annual Juneteenth Parade in downtown Macon. This year's parade will be a vibrant celebration of Black Girl Magic, showcasing the strength, resilience, and accomplishments of black women and girls.
It's an event, "filled with music, dance, and a true sense of community. The parade will feature colorful floats, marching bands, dance troupes, and various community organizations coming together to honor and uplift the black women and girls who have played a significant role in shaping our history and culture."
This year's Grand Marshals will be Zelma Redding and Karla Redding-Andrews, the wife and daughter of the late Otis Redding.
