MACON, Ga. — There was a Blue Supermoon over Central Georgia Monday night!
While there is nothing blue about it, members of the 13WMAZ Weather Network shared some "super" photos of the moon Monday night.
A "blue moon" and a "super moon" are two separate things, but it is rare that they occur together.
A supermoon is when the Moon is at its closest distance to Earth, and tonight the moon is roughly 224,917 miles away.
According to the 13WMAZ, "the term blue moon has two meanings. In this case, the term refers to the moon being the third one of the summer, which is considered uncommon."
