Masters start delayed on Thursday due to weather

Augusta National Golf Club said the earliest the tournament would begin is 9 a.m.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — 8 AM Update: Augusta National Golf Club says the first round will begin at 10:30 a.m. off the No. 1 tee. The Honorary Starters Ceremony will begin at 10:10 a.m. 

Patron gates will open at 9:30 a.m.

Augusta National Golf Club released a statement Thursday morning saying tee times would be delayed for the start of the 2024 Masters Tournament.

"Gate openings and tee times have been delayed until further notice," the statement read. "The first round will not begin before 9 a.m."

Radar estimates about a half inch of rain fell in Augusta through the overnight hours with showers continuing this morning. The 13WMAZ Weather Team expects the bulk of the rain to clear out of Augusta around 9 a.m.

Wrap-around showers will still be possible in eastern Georgia through the afternoon hours on Thursday.  Expect sunny skies Friday through Sunday.
