MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — There's been a crash involving a train and car on North Indian Springs Drive at Bryant's Collision in Monroe County, according to Monroe County EMA.
The agency posted on their Facebook that the North Lee Street crossing will be closed for a while. Tift College Drive and Mize Street are still open for use.
This is just one of four train crashes that have happened in Central Georgia this month. A total of three people have died as a result of the previous three crashes.
In November 2018, Norfolk Southern railroad company asked the city to close the North Indian Springs Drive and Main Street crossings.
In return, the company offered $1 million in improvements to their other crossings. The city declined, so the railroad asked for just Indian Springs and again, the city said no.
