"They make you smile real quick:" Dublin flower shops gives 200 bouquets to veterans

As part of the "Make Someone Smile" week, Teleflora donates more than 30,000 mugs and flowers to local florists nationwide.

DUBLIN, Ga. — Handfuls of white and yellow daisies are on a mission to spark a smile.

"We've got you some beautiful flowers here. It's 'make someone smile' week, so we wanted to make you smile," volunteers say as they pass out bouquets.

On Wednesday, volunteers from Classic Florist and Home Decor passed out colorful bouquets to people who served our country.

"My wife always liked flowers. It brightens up your day if you're down. It brings you a smile to your face," Veteran Donald Carr said. 

Two hundred bundles of fresh flowers make their way room to room. 

"Praise the lord," Veteran William Evans said. 

Every petal makes a difference to veterans going through a tough time. 

"They're taking time out of their busy schedule to look after the veterans here, and I think that's amazing," Evans said.

Each bundle is donated and handcrafted to make the signature "be happy" bouquet.

As part of the "Make Someone Smile" week, Teleflora donates more than 30,000 mugs and flowers to local florists nationwide.

"When you hand someone a bouquet of flowers they can't help but just smile. I just feel like this is a very worth while project we do with the make someone smile and the flowers it just brightens anyone's day," floral designer Randy Stone said. 

The smiles on the veterans faces are proof it really works. 

"They make you smile real quick," Veteran Chuck Allbee said. 

Some veterans say something like this can pull them through difficult moments. 

"They need to be blessed, to hand things out like that because it makes you cheer up. it makes you smile and cheer up," Allbee said. 

The gift of a smile in return to a life of service.
