MACON, Ga. — Democratic voters elevated Tangie Herring to take on GOP nominee Noah Harbuck in November for Statehouse District 145.
After all the votes were cast, Herring beat out Juwan Jackson and will take on Harbuck in the general election.
Herrin, a teacher, took on Jackson, who used to be the president of the Bibb County Board of Education.
Here’s a look at how the Democrats voted for Georgia House District 145:
Tangie Herring: 58%, 1,262 VOTES
Juwan Jackson: 42%, 929 VOTES
Herring will face off against Republican challenger Noah Harbuck from Forsyth in the Nov. 5 general election.
When Herring announced her candidacy, she highlighted her roots, graduating from Northside High School and receiving degrees from various Central Georgia colleges.
But she said in her campaign announcement that she wanted to shake up leadership in the state capitol in Atlanta
"The call to serve Middle Georgia is now more pressing than ever," Herring said. "Our region deserves far better than the current leadership in the state Capitol. I am not just running for a seat; I am stepping up to unlock change, to fight for public safety, education, healthcare and housing that every person in District 145 rightfully deserves.”
Harbuck says that he is dedicated to promoting “conservative values” in the state house and calls himself “a family man and devoted husband and father.”
“I'm passionate about making a difference,” Harbuck said on Facebook. “I’ll listen to your concerns, represent your interests and work tirelessly to build a brighter future for our community.”
The general election is scheduled for Nov. 5.
