This candidate running for seat in Georgia House of Representatives. Meet Tangie Herring

Herring graduated from Northside High School.

MACON, Ga. — A candidate announced her run for a new seat in the Georgia House of Representatives.

Tangie Herring is running for District 145 which includes a lot of Central Georgia. The legislature set new boundaries for it during the special session in December after a judge threw out the original districts after a suit over fair representation for Black voters.

"Redistricting won't alter my dedication. My roots in Middle Georgia, along with my deep connections to Robins Air Force Base, public education and local business, make me uniquely qualified to represent our shared interests and values," she said.

Herring previously ran for the 143rd District Seat. She graduated from Northside High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Georgia College and earned postgraduate degrees from Fort Valley State University and Mercer University in Macon. She taught for 28 years in the Atlanta Public School system, where she earned recognition as Teacher of the Year while teaching at Morris Brandon Elementary.

"The call to serve Middle Georgia is now more pressing than ever," Herring said. "Our region deserves far better than the current leadership in the state Capitol. I am not just running for a seat; I am stepping up to unlock change, to fight for public safety, education, healthcare and housing that every person in District 145 rightfully deserves. Join me in this journey towards a brighter future for Middle Georgia."
