2024 Election results | Central Georgia competitive State House races

Here’s a look at who won in some of Central Georgia’s competitive races for Georgia’s state legislature.

MACON, Ga. — Every member of the Georgia House of Representatives went before their constituents this election season

Here in Central Georgia, many competitive state house races were decided —  and many new faces were running to represent Central Georgia under the Gold Dome.

With their influence in the capitol, here’s a look at the newly-elected or re-elected members of Central Georgia’s delegation to Georgia’s House of Representatives.

The results are reflective of what the Associated Press has when these races were called. Once the final results come in, we'll update the totals with the final numbers.

House District 142

This district encompasses parts of Bibb including Ingleside, Bellevue, Wimbish Wood and Azalea Park. 

Incumbent Miriam Parris, a realtor, went head-to-head with Calvin Palmer, a mattress store owner and former Bibb County GOP chairman.

The Associated Press called the race for Miriam Paris. Here's a look at the totals with 80.4% of the vote counted. 

Miriam Paris (D-incumbent): 60.5%- 15,875  votes

Calvin Palmer (R): 39.5% - 10,377  votes

House District 143

This district encompasses parts of Macon-Bibb County and Houston County. Both candidates are vying to replace Rep. James Beverly, who announced he was not seeking re-election.

Barbara Boyer is an attorney and Annisa Jones is a former member of the Macon Water Authority. They both live in downtown Macon

The Associated Press called the race for Annisa Jones with at least 63.1% of the vote counted.

Barbara Boyer (R):   37.9% - 5,905 votes

Annisa Jones (D): 62% - 9,698 votes

House District 147

The district covers parts of Houston County, including Centerville, Barrington and Lakeview.

Incumbent Bethany Ballard, a former high school English teacher, faced off against  Ariel Phillips, a small business owner and military veteran.

The Associated Press called the race for Ballard with 83.5% of the vote counted.  

Bethany Ballard (R-incumbent):  57.1% - 13,622 votes

Ariel Phillips (D): 42.9% - 10,253 votes

House District 145

Voters in parts of Monroe and Bibb counties voted on two candidates running for the seat as legislator for House District 145. 

Redistricting caused this seat’s incumbent, Crawford County peach farmer Robert Dickey, to reside outside of his district, prompting a battle for what is practically a brand-new district. 

Tangie Herring, a teacher from Macon, is facing off against Forsyth’s Noah Harbuck, who works in insurance.

Noah Harbuck (R): 49.53% - 13,364 votes

Tangie Herring (D): 50.47% - 13,615 votes

House District 149

This district – covering parks of Bleckley, Dodge, Twiggs and Wilkinson Counties – features Floyd Griffin and Ken Vance going head-to-head. 

Floyd Griffin, former mayor of Milledgeville, is taking on Ken Vance, a teacher and law enforcement professional.

The Associated Press called the race for Floyd Griffin with 87.8% of the vote counted. 

Ken Vance (R):  44.7% - 9,787 votes

Floyd Griffin (D): 55.3% - 12,131 votes
