Former president Trump safe after 'gunshots in his vicinity,' his campaign says

No other details were provided in a brief statement sent out to news organizations Sunday afternoon

MACON, Ga. — Former president Donald Trump is "safe following gunshots in his vicinity," his campaign announced Sunday afternoon.

His campaign's communications director, Steven Cheung, put out a statement regarding the former presidents status.

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time," Cheung said in the statement.

There are currently no further details on the possible shooting near the former president.

Trump was previously shot at and his ear was hit in an assassination attempt at a rally of his in July.

The former president was in Las Vegas yesterday for a rally. It's currently unclear where this shooting took place.
