Macon woman charged with helping four inmates escape Bibb County Jail

A Bibb County arrest warrant says the woman aided Marc Anderson, Johnifer Barnwell, Joey Fournier and Chavis Stokes.

MACON, Ga. — A Macon woman is now charged with helping those four inmates escape from the Bibb County Jail.

Mykia Williams is in the Bibb County Jail facing four counts of aiding an escape.

A Bibb County arrest warrant says Williams aided Marc Anderson, Johnifer Barnwell, Joey Fournier and Chavis Stokes.

They broke out of the Bibb County Jail nine days ago.

We asked the Bibb County Sheriff's Office how Williams aided the escape and they declined comment.

Mykia Williams is the girlfriend of Christian Williams, a murder suspect who was on the loose for seven months until Monday.

Only hours before he was set to go on trial for the murder of Greg Watkins, a video was released showing Christian Williams being dragged from his front lawn in the early hours of March 6.

For the past 7 months, he's been missing.

Now, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office is confirming that Williams shot himself during a raid in the 2000 block of Vineville Avenue, which the sheriff's office said was connected to the search for the four inmates who escaped from the Bibb County Jail.

At around 7 a.m. Monday morning, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force tried to enter an apartment at The Pines on Viveville at 2020 Vineville Ave.

As Marshals attempted to enter, a gunshot rang out. They say Williams shot at the Marshals through the door of the apartment, according to Davis. The Marshals moved back and called the Bibb County SWAT Team to help.

When the SWAT team arrived, a person who was inside the apartment told them that Williams had shot himself, the press release said.

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, Williams died at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon from a gunshot wound to the head.

The reward for information that leads to the four inmates' capture has been upped to $73,000 after various local and federal agencies have offered up rewards.

The inmates were in jail for an array of different crimes.

Fournier was arrested and charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend in early 2022 at a Barrington Hall home.

Anderson was in jail for Aggravated Assault. Stokes was arrested in a 2020 drug bust.

Barnwell was convicted earlier this month of Armed Fentanyl, Meth and Heroin Trafficking and was arrested by the U.S Marshals.
