Man found dead on Friday in Washington State Prison, release says

The man was serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault out of Cobb County in 2017

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Washington County State Prison inmate was found dead on Friday, according to a Georgia Department of Corrections press release.

Devonte Williams, who’s around 26-years-old, was found sometime on Friday.

The release said his body was turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab to learn the official cause of death.

Williams was serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault out of Cobb County in May 2017. He had a maximum release date of May 2041.

He was also arrested in 2016 for illegally entering a vehicle and theft of a credit card.
