WRPD arrests 5 gang members in raid, recovers nearly 3 pounds of marijuana and 2 stolen guns, police say

Here's what the police chief had to say about the search yesterday and what they found inside the home

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Warner Robins Police are updating the public on a Thursday afternoon search that temporarily closed Sherman and Lincoln Street and put five suspected gang members behind bars.

In a Friday press conference, Warner Robins Police Chief Wayne Fisher says officers searched 102 Sherman Street and recovered stolen guns, pounds of marijuana and almost two dozen narcotic pills.

Five people — ranging in age from 20 to 27 — were arrested for distributing marijuana, and possession of a firearm during a crime along with violating Georgia's Street Gang Prevention Act, according to Fisher. Four were males, one was female.

He says that the department learned that narcotics were being sold at the home. They also say they knew firearms and gang activity were occurring at the residence.

Because Warner Robins Police knew that the individuals at the home had guns and were near a school, the SWAT team was activated as the department conducted their search warrant.

Fisher says his officers found nearly three pounds of marijuana, 23 hydrocodone pills along with three firearms. Furthermore, he says two of those guns had been reported stolen.

According to Houston County jail records, none of the people on Thursday have been given bond and they all remain in custody at the Houston County jail.
