WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A Warner Robins man was sentenced to over 19 years in prison for playing a part in "distributing kilogram quantities of narcotics" to Central Georgia, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Georgia says.
They say Travis Warthen, 40, pleaded guilty in 2023 to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, but in a hearing on Wednesday, U.S. District Judge C. Ashley Royal sentenced Warthen to 235 months in prison.
Alongside eight other codefendants, federal prosecutors say Warthen was a drug dealer in Warner Robins who was supplied by Atlanta drug supplier Heather Marie Breland, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The drug trafficking organization sold " kilogram quantities" of narcotics with a focus on methamphetamine and fentanyl.
They say Warthen was supplied by Breland's associate Raiford Reeves of Warner Robins. After Warthen purchased illegal narcotics while under surveillance by authorities, law enforcement tried to conduct a traffic stop on May 25, 2022.
But when authorities did that, Warthen sped off, driving into oncoming traffic and racing over 100 miles per hour until he lost control of his vehicle and wrecked his car, the press release said.
While he attempted to run away, he was ultimately arrested after falling to the ground, prosecutors said.
When they searched his car, prosecutors say they found a stolen handgun and 274 grams of meth.
Reeves was also sentenced to 17.5 years in prison.
A long list of codefendants were also sentenced in connection to the drug trafficking charges:
