Warner Robins family reacts to drive-by shooting that injured 4 outside their home

A drive-by shooting happened outside a house in Warner Robins. The family that lives there says they don't know why someone would do this

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A Warner Robins family that lives on Shirley Drive calls their home a place of peace, love, and kindness.

On Sunday night, peace and love turned to chaos when a drive-by shooting happened, injuring four people.

Kimberly Grace and her sister Katrina Efford remember the events that unfolded Sunday night. Grace says the neighborhood has a lot of old people and everyone knows each other.

She says she and four of her siblings inherited the home after their dad passed away during the height of the COVID pandemic. She says their home was a gathering place for family and friends.

"During football seasons, high school, whether it be college or NFL, we would come here," Grace said.

On Sunday, around 40 people came to the home to have a party. Grace says everyone was enjoying themselves and was sitting in the front yard.

"I actually had my back turned and all of a sudden fire rang out and I hit the ground immediately," Grace said.

She says God spared her life, but once she realized what was going on, her licensed therapist background kicked in.

"I had to change from victim mode to therapist mode where we actually went in, and assess everyone and there were a lot of high emotions," Grace said.

Her sister told 13WMAZ she went inside the house to get food two minutes before shots were fired.

"They were so loud, and I heard someone scream, 'They're shooting' and I immediately got up onto the kitchen floor," Efford said.

Efford says she also went into flight mode and she was worried for her son, her siblings, her friends and everyone around.

Efford says local officials need to be proactive and not reactive.

"I do feel like first it starts at home and we also have to be proactive so we don't have to be reactive," Efford said. "We could go to our city government, our local city councilman, talk with our police officers, our mayors, and come up with resolutions."

Grace and Efford don't know who or why someone would shoot at their family home.

"This was a place of peace, a place of love, a place of kindness," Grace said.

The family says they are grateful no one died but believe police will make an arrest.

All four victims are in the hospital in stable condition.
