Two men charged with Warner Robins gas station killing, robbery

They're also charged with robbing a Macon post office last month

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Two men are in custody and charged with killing a man at a Warner Robins gas station last week.

According to a news release, 19-year-old Roy Ford Jr. and 36-year-old Alvin Dunn are charged with killing Navaneetbhai Patel.

If their names sound familiar, it’s because they’re in the Bibb County Jail on charges of armed robbery for a robbery that happened at a post office on Black Friday.

Between the two crimes, Dunn is charged with murder, two counts of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Ford is charged with murder, two counts of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and a previous charge of theft by taking.

Warner Robins Police say the arrest of these individuals is the result of a collaborative working relationship with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and U.S. Postal Inspectors.

CASE BACKGROUND

According to a news release, the post office robbery happened at the United States Post Office at 1040 Pio Nono Ave. around 1:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.

It was reported that two masked men walked in and one of them demanded money from the clerk.

After getting an undisclosed amount, the two men ran away towards Patterson Street. Witnesses reported seeing the two men get into a red Honda with a ‘drive-out’ tag.

Then, two weeks later, on Dec. 15, Warner Robins Police officers were sent to the Citgo on Russell Parkway around 5:30 p.m. for an armed robbery.

Once they got to the Express Shop at the gas station, they found a man had been shot, later identified as 49-year-old Navaneetbhai Patel.

The release said Patel was taken to Houston Medical Center, where he later died.

Detectives ask that anyone with information call Detective Justin Clark or Detective Chad Pierce at (478) 302-5380.
