Buckarama, an event to get hunters ready for deer season, held at Fairgrounds in Perry

Over 5,000 people came out to the Georgia National Fairgrounds to take part in the wide range of deer hunting and conservation activities

PERRY, Ga. — The Georgia Wildlife Federation is gearing up early for deer hunting season.

While the season isn’t until October, hunters, conservationists and wildlife lovers gathered for Buckarama, an event filled with seminars, sales and a showcase of all things related to deer hunting and wildlife conservation.

Over 5,000 people came out to the McGill Marketplace and Heritage Hall at the Georgia National Fairgrounds to take part in the wide range of deer hunting and conservation activities.

People had an opportunity to stock up on hunting gear and other wildlife equipment ahead of deer season.

Vendors were selling guns, blinds, deer stands, campers, tractors and food products like seasonings and sauces.

A big message from the event was to get outdoors and to continue to enjoy the environment.

The event ran through Friday to Sunday. It ran from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday and will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
