Here's what we know now.

ATLANTA — The major water main break that started Friday on a heavily trafficked Atlanta street continues to cause significant disruptions, forcing many into a boil advisory zone; here's what residents need to know.

When did the water break start?

It all started early Friday, just after 8 a.m. when a break happened in the Vine City neighborhood near the intersection of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard NW and James P. Brawley Drive.

What are officials saying started it?

Atlanta Department of Watershed Management said the water main breaks happened when three different lines came together, carrying a large amount of water into the city to different areas. This caused water outages and low water pressure throughout a large swath of the midtown/downtown areas.

When will the water break be fixed?

There's no timeline for when things will be fixed.

Who is the water main break impacting?

These breaks have led to widespread water service interruptions, and many households are without a reliable water supply.

Boil water advisory still in effect

Following the recent water main break, the city's boil water advisory remains in effect. Residents are reminded to boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing their teeth to avoid potential contamination. The advisory, which was put in place as a precautionary measure, will remain until water quality tests confirm that the supply is safe for consumption.

It was expanded Saturday to include more parts of the city, including Midtown.
